Katie Lipow is a multidisciplinary soprano based in Oldenburg, Germany. Lauded for her "highly interpretive quality", she possesses a revelatory mastery of vocal technique and presentation across genres, including early music, new works, and standard operatic repertoire.
Katie received her M.Mus. in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College, and a B.A in Music and Astronomy from Smith College. In recent years, she has participated in SongFest, the CoOPERAtive program, Teatro Nuovo, Queens College Baroque Opera Workshop, Aquilon Music Festival, and the Westminster Art Song Festival.
Katie is a past winner of the Smith Concerto Competition and the Sage Chamber Music Society Young Artist Competition. She has also performed as a soloist with New York Baroque Incorporated, Juilliard 415, and the Smith College Alumnae Chorus's tour to Cuba. Previous opera performances include Hänsel & Gretel (Gretel), Carmen (Frasquita), The Bartered Bride (Ludmila), Die Zauberflöte (First Lady & Papagena), L'incoronazione of Poppea (Fortuna), Il ritorno d'Ulisse in patria (Fortuna), and La Chûte de Phaëton (Angelique).
